Is Dissent a Sin? The Pope Gets a Free Media Ride, His Critics Are Sidelined

Religious leaders are more diverse than media credits.

The flip side is that the media ignored two of pope's inconvenient views: his opposition to the death penalty and the Iraq war.

I personally don't care about the death penalty, unless innocent people are executed. The system's flaws should be exposed every chance. But I don't much mind properly convicted felons getting it. Though if they got jail instead, I'm ok with that too.
