Why we should not use the term "gay marriage"

In the end, we all want the freedom to marry. Don't say "gay marriage"

I'll admit, easier said than done. Routine phrases are hard to unlearn, and much harder still to stop the conversation and correct your friends.

What I can commit to is ensuring that THIS blog uses the terms "freedom to marry", "equality in marriage", or "marriage equality".

Though one can argue that saying "gay marriage" promotes gay pride, and defeats gay shame.

Oh well, what do you think?
