Missouri State Senator, Republican, says "hunger can be a positive motivator" for poor kids

State Rep Cynthia Davis says poor kids should not get publically-funded free meals because they should get jobs, and "hunger can be a positive motivator".

She is chairwoman of the Missouri House Special Standing Committee on Children and Families.

Here is a Google search on the stories on this.

Here is what she said: "Who’s buying dinner? Who is getting paid to serve the meal?... Can’t they get a job during the summer by the time they are 16? Hunger can be a positive motivator. What is wrong with the idea of getting a job so you can get better meals? Tip: If you work for McDonald’s, they will feed you for free during your break...." [boldface is from group Think Progress's repeating quote. Think Progress is from where I got copied/pasted this quote]

BUT.....you can see the same quote on Davis's OWN SENATE SITE (scroll to bottom to see final two boxes in chart, the first being the "press release" and Davis's own commentary, right here)

Here is Rep Davis's online contact form.
